At age 2, Traejen was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune form of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) , where the immune system produces a chemical that causes the filters in the kidneys to leak. The stem cells create a new immune system, and the kidney from the same donor is accepted and flourishes.
