Creative Arts Therapies Week (March 1723) is celebrated every third week of March during Child Life and Creative Arts month. Its an opportunity to celebrate the important role these Creative Arts therapists play in combining the benefits of creative expression and psychological support.
At times it was a challenge, but the experience proved to be great for my mental health, creativity, and growth as a teacher. Be positive and prepared — as well as flexible and creative! My classes dealt with snow, rain, thunder, and bitter cold windy days. And, most of our students learned to appreciate the outdoors.
Because I still want my students to get outside for fresh air and some natural vitamin D, I’ve gotten creative with one of my favorite units, which focuses on a standards-based approach with teaching opportunities in social and emotional learning.
