Vegetarian Minestrone Soup

Alexandra Lemm

This week, both Tyler and I wanted to challenge our cooking skills by going vegetarian. When we went to the store and bought our meal ingredients, I really had the intention of making vegetable soup when I realized I was getting ingredients for Minestrone soup for our first meal. With new soups, I usually like to wing it and see how it goes, and this one turned out super well!

Reimagine the Role of PE to Reconnect With Your Students

Speaker: Jeremy Kellem, M.Ed. - Educational Strategist, Former Athlete, and CEO/Founder of W.I.N. (We Impact Now, LLC)

For many students, physical education is critical to becoming active and developing healthy routines. But how is this possible anymore with the repercussions of the pandemic? Years of COVID-19, social distancing, and virtual learning have all had a profound effect on students, which means educators need to adjust their classes accordingly. The good news is that P.E. can still play a vital role in helping students intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially.

I recently came across a great quote from the poet TS Elliot, who says “Nothing pleases people more than to go on thinking what they have always thought, and at the same time imagine that they are thinking something new and daring: it combines the advantage of security with the delight of adventure.” The quote. P.E. Christmas Reflection - Finding the Balance

Physical Education Ideas

Christmas season can be crazy and always brings on a period of reflection. How are you travelling with your PE workload? Admittedly at times I find myself feeling anxious, overwhelmed and jittery. Maybe even depressed. The lead up for Xmas for me means finishing 300 assessments across the school, reports, organising our junior school swimming carnival, managing/coaching as part of our interschool sports program and planning lessons on top of that… oh, and writing this blog.

BLOG: Helping a PE Substitute Teacher Succeed

PE with Palos

Substitute teachers are often at a disadvantage when walking into any classroom. It can be even more difficult for a PE teacher. There are no seating charts and, in many cases, very few ways to maintain control of an entire classroom of children no matter what their age. How Physical Education Plays a Core Role in Student Development

Speaker: Shane Pill PhD, MEd, BEd, LMACHPER, FACHPER - Physical Education and Sports Researcher, Professor, Consultant, and Speaker

Physical education is an important part of the development of the whole person: physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively. By providing education in movement competency, education on using movement to develop the ability to be self-regulated and motivated, and education through movement to develop ‘habits of mind’ for positive and constructive engagement with others, PE provides a basis for personal and community health and wellbeing.

How to Handle Concussions in Youth Hockey

Better Coaching

This is a guest post from Candace DiGiacomo of Tucker Hockey. For spectators, one of the most compelling aspects of hockey is its physicality and high-tempo nature. Many hockey players also relish the physical battle, but sometimes that can manifest itself in harmful ways. On rare occasions, this could take the form of concussion, which is something that players, parents and especially coaches have a duty to handle sensibly.

Expository Writing Made Easy

Four years ago in mid-February, I was pulled into a meeting with another teacher and a plan was laid out for all of us to switch grade levels. In a weekend, I needed to move my classroom furniture, I was to become familiar with six new rosters, AND most importantly, I needed to teach both reading and writing heavily since they are both tested in 7t

Physical Education & Greatness

Why We Look Back

Bunch Parents Blog

Think of all the things that have come to an end for you this year, either big or small. What do we all tend to do once that ending occurs? We look back. There are many reasons why we do this, but perhaps the most common is to remind ourselves of what we want the future to look like. Looking back allows us to reflect on what we want to repeat, improve, or avoid going forward. 2019 is coming to an end in just a few more days.
