Here are a few winter activities for elementary PE that include opportunities to practice personal responsibility, cultural studies, and physical fitness outside. During and after the pandemic, it became even more apparent how important getting fresh air was for my students’ physical and, more important, emotional health.

At this annual event, members of the HPE community meet with representatives of Congress to advocate for continued support and robust funding for health and physical education. Your voice matters.

If you ask most elementary students what their favorite subjects are, the most common answers are usually physical education and recess. Elementary students get the majority of their movement during the school day in physical education (PE) and recess. Over time, student health and well-being will develop as well.
