Because I still want my students to get outside for fresh air and some natural vitamin D, I’ve gotten creative with one of my favorite units, which focuses on a standards-based approach with teaching opportunities in social and emotional learning. One of the best outdoor activities I have found to teach these skills is sledding down a hill.

Adopt-a-Gym is a “ by kids, for kids ” fundraiser where schools raise funds to purchase physical education equipment for other schools that are short on resources to purchase adequate equipment for themselves.”. At PLT4M, we recommend teaching gymnastic skills to the entire class allowing ample students time to practice the movements together. But all beam exercises can also be achieved by using any of the painted lines on the gym floor or by putting down a line of tape. If you have a soft beam or slightly elevated beam that is great.
