As a physical education teacher at Hebron High School in Carrollton, TX, I developed a Health and Wellness Club for our ninth-grade campus as an initiative to reduce obesity and related comorbidities that are associated with sedentary lifestyles and a lack of physical activity. We met every other week for 30 minutes during advisory time.
For that reason, I check out every new article, blog and podcast that comes out about staff wellness. Staff wellness is not something we can talk about only at our monthly staff meetings, but something that we must cultivate and support daily to create a healthy environment that will trickle down to our students.
