Four years of college had gone by faster than I could blink my eyes and then I was back in high school — now responsible for the education of students who were only four to seven years younger than me. In a school full of amazing people, I felt isolated. I was finally prioritizing my deep-rooted desire to grow as an educator.

At some point, most physical education teachers have had to give up the gym for a concert, rehearsal, assembly, construction, or other school/community activity. At times it was a challenge, but the experience proved to be great for my mental health, creativity, and growth as a teacher. It’s not unusual.
